Background
William Sefton Fyfe was born on June 4, 1927 in Ashbury, New Zealand. Mr Fyfe died on November 11, 2013 at the age of 87 in London, Ontario, Canada. William Fyfe was a New Zealand geologist as well as pioneer in geochemistry and global change. He was married to Patricia and he had two sons named Christopher and Stefan and one daughter named Catherine. He was a professor at Emeritus in the department of Earth Sciences at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. He is known as one of the worlds most famous geochemists as well as geologists in world-history. Fyfe received his bachelors degree in 1948, his masters degree in 1949 and his Ph.D. degree in 1952. Fyfe received all of these degrees from the University of Otago where he spent most of his education. He also taught in their geology department as a lecturer. William also researched at the University of California, Los Angeles which is in the U.S. and as well as at the University of California, Berkley which is also located in the U.S. Throughout his career he was a professor at Berkley, Imperial College London and the University of Manchester as well as the University of Western Ontario. From 1986 until 1990 he was Dean of Science at the University of Western Ontario. He spent most of his life on geology and geochemistry problems which he was eager to discover and solve.

Education
William S. Fyfe went to the University of Otago for the majority of his higher education career. The University of Otago is located in New Zealand which is also where Mr Fyfe was born. During his time at the University of Otago Fyfe received his bachelors degree in 1948, his masters in 1949 and his Ph.D. certificate in 1952. He also taught at their university as a lecturer later in his life. Throughout Fyfe’s life he also preformed different research at the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of California, Berkeley which were both located in the United States. He also become a professor and taught at numerous world class university’s such as Berkley, Imperial College London, the University of Manchester and he also taught at the University of Western Ontario for a brief period in 1972. The University of Western Ontario was located in Canada. From 1986 until 1990 he was the head of the Science department at the University of Western Ontario. Throughout his lifetime William Fyfe has been seen my many as one of the most eminent geochemist of his time.
